Clever Commute, the nation's leading crowdsourced network of real-time transit alerts, is partnering with Baristanet.com, the nation's leading placeblog, to provide up-to-the-minute rider-supplied news about transit problems between New York and New Jersey.

The data now appears on Baristanet's website as soon as riders share their alerts.

The Clever Commute technology connects bus and train riders through mobile messaging devices, enabling commuters to tell each other when trains are late, stuck, have sick passengers or experience any other transit emergencies.

Clever Commute got its start in Montclair, NJ, home to its founder Joshua Crandall and Baristanet.com, which has been a big backer of the service. Clever Commute's two original data feeds, for NJ Transit's Monclair-Boonton train line and the Decamp bus service, now appear on Baristanet. Clever Commute has expanded to include all major New York area transit providers, including NJ Transit, Metro North and Long Island Railroad, and also serves commuters in Boston, Chicago and several other metropolitan areas.

The Baristanet platform was accomplished through a four-month technical partnership that included MWW Group in East Rutherford. These real-time data feeds, delivered via RSS technology, are now available for all lines covered by Clever Commute.
